One copy of a replacement award certificate will be produced.
There can be only one degree certificate in existence at any one time. A replacement certificate can only be produced if the original certificate has been lost or destroyed. A form of identification must also be sent to Registry in support of your application. Replacements will bear the name of the graduate as they were known at the time of graduation and names cannot be changed retrospectively.
If your name is the same as when you graduated you may use any of the following as proof of identity - passport (personal details page), photocard driver's licence or birth certificate. If your name has changed since you graduated your application must also be accompanied by either a copy of your marriage certificate or a Deed Poll certificate that bears the name you were enrolled under. Please send your identification with a covering note as follows: Scanned copies can be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard copies can be mailed to Registry, Abertay University, Bell Street, Dundee, DD1 1HG.
Replacements cannot be issued for graduates who received their degree prior to 1994. Abertay University received full degree-awarding powers and university title in 1994. The Open University has custody of all CNAA records – the awarding body for the institution prior to 1994. For further information and advice please see the CNAA website: http://www.open.ac.uk/cicp/main/validation/awards-and-aftercare/cnaa-pro-forma-verification#
A replacement certificate will not be released by Registry until payment and proof of identification has been received.
Replacement award Certificates will carry the following statement “This is a duplicate Award certificate, re-issued on 00/00/0000”.
Only one replacement can be ordered and certificates will only be sent directly to the applicant and not to a third party.
Please note it can take up to 10 working days from receipt of your ID for your replacement award certificate to be prepared before being sent out. Charges are inclusive of postage
